Obando Fertility Festival

Events

Obando Fertility is a festival celebrated in Obando, Bulacan, Philippines. It is a unique cultural event that combines religious devotion with the hopes of couples seeking fertility and blessings for their family.

The festival takes place every May 17 to 19, lasting for three days. People from all over the country gather in Obando to participate in various activities and rituals. The main focus of the festival is to honor and seek the intercession of three patron saints: Santa Clara, San Pascual Baylon, and Nuestra SeƱora de Salambao.

Couples who are trying to conceive or hoping for a healthy pregnancy come to the festival to offer prayers and perform dances known as “fertility dances.” These dances involve rhythmic movements accompanied by lively music, with the belief that it will increase their chances of having a child.

The festival also features colorful processions, traditional folk dances, and street performances. Many attendees wear traditional Filipino costumes and carry images of the patron saints. It is a joyful and vibrant celebration that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines.

It is important to note that while the festival is deeply rooted in tradition and faith, it does not guarantee fertility or pregnancy. It is more of a cultural event where people come together to express their hopes and desires for starting or expanding their families.
